Hotel Elefant, view from our window

Our hotel in Salzburg is called The Elefant (Elephant) after a legend about some Austrian crown prince who marched an elephant from Spain to Vienna passing through Salzburg. It was the first elephant anyone had ever seen. Betsy, our GPS, directed us onto pedestrian walkways so we ignored her and circled the town several times. Finallly we stopped a lady and asked for directions She told us to drive on the pedestrian walkways like Betsy said and sure enough we found our hotel smack in the middle of the old town (Alstadt). After we unloaded luggage we parked in the "mountain" literally behind the hotel and under the castle. The hotel decor is all about the elephant and is very unique. The hotel building is 800 years old.
