Along the way

we passed a typical old Bavarian town and a woman was working in her beautiful flower garden along the road. Edward stopped in the middle of the road and said, "get out and talk to her" so I did. She didn't speak a word of English, but nodded ok when I asked to take pictures of her beautiful garden. Edward joined us and she asked if she had a vegetable garden. She motioned us around back and to our amazement the garden just continued. Every nook and cranny was overflowing with blooming flowers...everything was in bloom. Tucked behind a row of blooming hollyhocks was a chicken coop, futher on were rabbit hutches, and seated in the shade was Grandma who jumped to her feet and greeted us like old friends. She then proceeded to open up the rabbit hutches and show off her jumbo sized rqbbits. The house, the barn, the flower garden, the vegetable garden, the rabbits, the chickens were all contained within an 1/8 acre in the village. It was amazing. Her garden vignettes looked like something out of a magazine and we thoroughly enjoyed our serendipitous moment along the Romantische Strasse.
